Wynette Amsterdam appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court Friday morning, charged with being in possession of 1.160 kilograms of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.
Amsterdam of Land of Canaan Public Road, East Bank Demerara, pleaded not guilty to the charge, which alleged that he had the illegal substance in his possession on October 17, 2018, at the Stabroek Market Square in the vicinity of Lodge Bus Park, Georgetown.
He was remanded to prison until November 1, 2018.
CANU said that Amsterdam and another male were under surveillance by ranks when they were intercepted.
Amsterdam was allegedly caught with the cocaine and $600,000 in cash inside a haversack he had in his possession.
