A 17-year-old boy has been arrested for attempted murder after he allegedly dealt his friend a lash to the head with a piece of wood during an argument on Friday night at La Retraite, West Bank Demerara.
The victim, 18-year-old Peter Liverstone, also of La Retraite, suffered a fractured skull and is a patient at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
Police Headquarters said that the young men are friends but are not on speaking terms and at around 8pm, they were teasing each other when Liverstone hit him with the wood on his shoulder.
The suspect took away the wood from Liverstone and dealt him a blow to the head, which caused him to collapse.
Police said the suspect rushed Liverstone to the West Demerara Regional Hospital where he was subsequently transferred to the city.
Police are yet to recover the wood and investigations are ongoing.
