Sophia cleaner stabbed, robbed of cell phone

A Sophia, Georgetown man was on Sunday evening stabbed twice after he refused to hand over his cell phone to two robbers.

The robbery occurred at ‘C’ Field, Sophia, in the vicinity of the neighbourhood health centre.

The victim has been identified as Devon Joe, 26, who works as a cleaner.

Reports are that Joe was standing on the street and using his cell phone when the two suspects approached him.

One suspect pulled out a knife and demanded his cellular phone but Joe refused. The suspect then stabbed him twice, once to the left side rib and once to the right side rib.

As Joe fell to the ground, the robbers snatched the phone and escaped.

The victim was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was treated and sent away.

The suspects have not been arrested.
