Porter killed in East Bank accident
The state of the truck following the accident.
A horrific accident in front the Guyana National Stadium at Providence on the East Bank of Demerara Friday morning has claimed the life of a porter whose body was crushed and trapped inside the passenger seat of a truck.
Dead is Kirk Peters, 45 of Sophia.
News Room understands that the fuel-laden truck lost control and slammed into the fence of the Stadium after a tyre blew off.
The force of the impact severely damaged the left passenger side of the heavy-duty truck, killing the porter who was stuck inside with his seatbelt on. Police said a portion of about 15 feet of the stadium fence was damaged.
The driver is hospitalized under police guard as investigations continue.
