Phillip Solomon, 41, appeared before Chief Magistrate, Ann McLennan Tuesday, charged with murdering his friend, Vernon Cummings.
Solomon, of Timehri, East Bank Demerara, was not required to plea to the charge, which alleged that on October 24, 2018, at Timehri, he killed 51-year-old Cummings by beating him in the head with a piece of iron.
The court heard that the duo was imbibing when an argument erupted and escalated into a fight.
Cummings was rushed to the Diamond Hospital where he died while receiving treatment.
The accused did not have legal representation and was remanded to prison until November 12, 2018.
