Couple charged for having ganja at Bartica Police Station

A couple appeared before Chief Magistrate, Ann McLennan Tuesday, charged with being in possession of 259 grams of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking.

Brian Blackman, 29 and the mother of his child, 26-year-old Vidya Bishun, pleaded not guilty to the charge, which alleged that on October 26, 2018, they had the cannabis in their possession at the Bartica Police Station.

The court heard that the drugs were found in a black plastic bag, which Bishun had in her possession and Blackman subsequently admitted ownership of the illegal substance.

They were granted $150,000 bail each and the case was transferred to the Bartica Magistrate’s Court for November 14, 2018.
