Two men of Middle Road, La Penitence and Hadfield Street, Werk-en-Rust, Georgetown were arrested shortly after they robbed a 32-year-old man at the Berbice Car Park and stabbed him in the face with an ice-pick.
Police said the robbers relieved the Enmore, East Coast Demerara (ECD) resident of his cellphone and were pursued and apprehended by public-spirited individuals.
They were promptly handed over to the police by personnel of a private security service who arrived on the scene.
However, the stolen item was not recovered.
The incident occurred about 22:45hrs on Sunday.
The victim received medical attention at the Georgetown Public Hospital and was sent away.
The suspects are also being questioned in relation to several recent robberies.
