Kitty man remanded on robbery, gun charges

A 30-year-old Construction Worker appeared before Chief Magistrate, Ann McLennan on Thursday, charged with armed robbery and the possession of an unlicensed weapon with matching ammunition.

Charles Stoby of Kitty, Georgetown, pleaded not guilty to the three charges.

Particulars of the first charge alleged that Stoby on October 22, 2018, at Gordon Street, Kitty, while being armed with a gun, robbed Kester Joseph of a $130,000 gold chain, a cell phone and Wrist Watch among other items valued $536,000.

The second and third charge alleged that on November 5, 2018, at Alexander Street, Kitty, he had in his possession two 9MM pistols with two matching ammunition when he is not a licenced firearm holder.

Prosecutor Simone Payne told the court that the Wrist Watch and cellphone were found in Stoby’s possession when he was arrested by the police on November 5. He was remanded until November 23.
