A 25-year-old Diamond/Grove, East Bank Demerara (EBD) resident appeared before Magistrate Judy Latchman at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court Friday, charged with the murder of his brother-in-law.

Anthony King was not required to plea to the charge, which alleged that on November 5, 2018, at Golden Grove, EBD he murdered 39-year-old Justin Peterkin, an Electrician of Paradise, East Coast Demerara.

King did not have legal representation and was remanded to prison until November 23, 2018.

News Room had reported that a neighbour, who witnessed the horrific incident, Daniel Boutrin said that he saw King in the yard earlier and later noticed him “chopping away on the man [Justin’s] neck.”

“He [King] get the chopper on the man neck and lashing it with a hammer,” Boutrin recalled.

The victim had spent the night at his In-laws house since he had some electrical work to do in the community.

Cassandra King, the mother of Justin’s children, told the media that she left her brother and Justin at home when she departed for work. Shortly after, she received a call from someone who told her to rush home.

“I left to go to a next wuk and all I hear is come home,” a crying Cassandra said.

She explained that she lives with her mother, father and two children, ages 9 and 13 and that King – the suspect – visits the house from time to time.

She does not know of any previous issue between her brother and the father of her children.
