Fly Jamaica plane crashes on emergency landing at CJIA

Two persons were rushed to the hospital after a Fly Jamaica aircraft, destined for Canada, ran off the airstrip of the Cheddi Jagan International Airport, Timehri early Friday morning, minutes after takeoff.

There were 118 passengers on board and News Room understands that after about 45 minutes in the air, the pilot turned back after experiencing difficulties.

News Room was informed that the flight took off from CJIA at around 1:30hrs Friday.

Reports indicate that the plane crashed into a fence at the airport and only came to a halt after encountering a large pile of sand.

The passengers were safely evacuated.

Minister of Public Infrastructure, David Patterson is currently at the scene and News Room will provide more details as it becomes available.
