Guyana suffered a third defeat in as many games in the Concacaf Under-20 Men’s championship, losing 4-3 to Curacao on Thursday at the IMG Academy, Florida.

Kelsey Benjamin put Guyana ahead as early as the sixth minute, but Curacao pulled one back three minutes later through Carolith Fermina.

Curacao surged ahead with a second goal in the 26th minute when Meghon Valpoort scored to make it 2-1. It soon became 3-1 when a Cecil Jackman own-goal widened the gap.

Thair Britton then closed the gap for Guyana, scoring in the 44th minute as the teams headed to the halftime break with Curacao leading 3-2.

Ten minutes upon resumption, Curacao tucked in a fourth goal through Jaron Vicario, before Britton scored his second two minutes later to make it 4-3.

That would be the final goal of the match as the Guyanese suffered a third straight loss. Guyana earlier lost to Guatemala 4-0 and the Cayman Islands 3-2.
