Guyana’s F4 driver Calvin Ming will make his debut in competitive radical racing at the South Dakota Circuit and wants to give the Guyanese fans a thrill in the highly anticipated battle with countryman Kristian Jeffrey in the Caribbean SR3 Cup Radical Series.

A visit by News Room Sport to the track on Friday saw Ming in steady practice ahead of Saturday’s qualifying and first round Radical race and then Sunday’s big day with the final two races in the category. Each radical race is 20 laps.

“I am pretty excited to be back home; it has been almost like four years since I raced here. Technically this will be my debut in racing a car. Last time I drove here was in a go-kart many years ago,” the young Ming expressed.

He added, “I got a few laps in this morning. So far everything is going according to plan. We are pretty fast out there so we are trying to see how much faster we can go.”

Apart from the threat of Jeffrey, who has been a podium finisher in Europe’s radical series, there are the Trinidadians to contend with and the rampant Bajans, but certainly Jeffrey is expected to be bumper to bumper with Ming.

Responding to how he thinks the battle will go, Ming stated, “We will have to wait and see for race day, but I think it will be pretty strong. Hopefully I try and beat him, but I think it will be a very close race.”
