Four injured after driver slams into parked car

Four persons were rushed to the Port Mourant Hospital after the car they were travelling in slammed into a parked vehicle on the Auchlyne Public Road at around midday on Saturday.

The driver of the car – HC 2295 – Cliff McKenzie was in a state of shock as he recalled that he swerved to avoid a head-on collision with a Canter Truck which in his lane from the opposite direction.

McKenzie, who suffered injuries to the face, said he swerved to the corner when he clipped the bumper of the parked car – PNN 5896.

McKenzie told News Room his car then spun several times, hitting the parked car once more before pushing it off the road and into a nearby trench.

The driver of the Canter Truck sped away from the scene. Both vehicles suffered extensive damage.

The driver of the parked car, Cecelia DeSouza Harry, a Teacher is now contemplating her losses.

She was at the time attending a GECOM training at the Auchlyne Primary School.

“I came, parked and came into the training. When I looked out after hearing the loud impact…I rushed out only to find it was indeed my car,” the woman recalled.

The injured passengers were assisted by public-spirited persons and taken to the hospital.
