Sophia man charged with murder of Legal Clerk

The prime suspect in the murder of 46-year-old Legal Clerk, Gregory ‘Wayne’ Frank was remanded to prison by Principal Magistrate, Judy Latchman on Wednesday.

Travis Evans, 23, of ‘C’ Field, Sophia, Greater Georgetown was not required to plea to the charge which alleged that between July 31 – August 2, 2018, at Kuru Kururu Linden Highway, East Bank Demerara (EBD), he murdered Frank in the company of others during a robbery.

He was represented by Attorney-at-law, Dexter Todd and the case is adjourned to November 27.

A police report had noted that on August 2, Frank’s body was discovered in the living room of his one flat home, with a swollen forehead.

The rear door to Frank’s home was found ajar and the entire house was ransacked. Valuables were also reported missing from the house.

An autopsy found that Frank died from asphyxiation due to a compression injury to the neck, compounded by blunt trauma to the head

On August 20, 2018, Evans was hauled before Magistrate Zamilla Ally-Seepaul at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court, charged with another murder.

It is alleged that Evans on August 2, 2018, at ‘C’ Field, Sophia shot and killed 21-year-old Ronsley Clarke during an argument.
