A 19-year-old Charlestown, Georgetown resident appeared before Magistrate Fabayo Azore Wednesday charged with robbery with violence.

Anthony Bartholomew pleaded not guilty to the charge, which alleged that on November 16, 2018, at Avenue of the Republic, he robbed Annalisa Kumar of a Samsung cell phone valued $68,000 with the use of personal violence.

Police Prosecutor, Warren Thornhill told the Court that on the day in question, the victim was walking along Avenue of the Republic when Bartholomew pushed her to the ground and forcefully took her phone.

The accused attempted to escape but was apprehended by public-spirited persons and handed over to the police.

During his appearance, the unrepresented teen said he was wrongly held and denied snatching the cell phone.

He was released on $50,000 bail and the case was adjourned to December 12, 2018.
