3 years jail for ‘chain snatcher’

Twenty-three-year-old Romel Bollers was on Wednesday sentenced to three years imprisonment by City Magistrate Dylon Bess on a simple larceny charge.

Bollers was found guilty of the charge which stated that on August 22, 2018, at Agricola, East Bank Demerara he stole from Tanya Drakes a gold chain along with a pendant valued $80,000.

According to reports, on the day in question, the victim was standing at the Agricola road head when Bollers snatched the gold chain from around her neck and escaped.

Bollers did not have legal representation and the case was prosecuted by Tracy-Ann Gittens.
