The Guyana Football Federation (GFF) has linked up with popular promotions group Kashif and Shanghai to stage the inaugural ExxonMobil-sponsored International Futsal Festival in late December.

The competition will feature eight teams, including three overseas units, battling in two groups of four during the December 27-30 event.

The Kashif and Shanghai group, known for its glamorous year-end football extravaganza, which has become dormant, is the coordinating body for the tournament.

The event will attract rivalry from four Regional Member Associations, a Guyana selection and three overseas teams.

The foreign sides are Morvant Caledonia United of Trinidad and Tobago, a Soa Paulo selection from Brazil and ZV All-Stars of Suriname. The local teams are East Coast All-Stars, Linden All-Stars, Georgetown All-Stars and West Demerara All-Stars.

The Cliff Anderson Sports Hall and National Park Tarmac are the venue the organisers hope they would get permission to use.

The winning team will pocket $1.2 million, while the losing finalist will receive half that amount. Third and fourth place finishers will pocket $300,000 and $100,000 respectively.

The top three would get trophies and medals, while fourth would receive a trophy.
