Jumbo Jet’s Race of Champions set for Sunday; Banks onboard

Banks DIH Limited is the beverage sponsor for Sunday’s Jumbo Jet Thoroughbred Racing Committee’s ‘Race of Champions’ billed for the Port Mourant Turf Club in Berbice. Ten races are carded on the day’s programme, which starts at 12:00h.

The local beverage giant presented the sponsorship cheque and the first place trophy for the feature race during a simple ceremony at Thirst Park.

Race promoter Nasrudeen Mohamed Junior was on hand to receive the sponsorship package from Shavini Tulsi, Export Manager of Banks DIH Limited, in the presence of Outdoor Events Manager Mortimer Stewart and other members of the Sales Department.

Sunday’s programme will kick off with the Inaugural Race of Champions event over 1300 metres for prizes close to $2 million.

Mohamed disclosed that all races will start on time and entries are to be paid and jockeys are to be weighed 15 minutes before post time and if not the said event will be cancelled. Entries will only be accepted by entry forms provided by the Jumbo Jet Thoroughbred Racing Committee.
