Husband beats woman to head with hammer
Police are on the hunt for a 54-year-old food vendor who allegedly struck his reputed wife to the head with a hammer, leaving her in a critical state at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
News Room understands that 44-year-old Killowtie Persaud, a food vendor of Lot 53 Houston, East Bank Demerara (EBD) was asleep at their home when at about 19:00hrs on Sunday the man, Wayne Henry arrived home drunk.
It is alleged that he hit the woman several times to the head with the hammer and then escaped.
Persaud managed to raise an alarm and was assisted by public-spirited persons and her mother to the hospital.
News Room understands that the couple has been living together for 25 years and would often argue and that the suspect would frequently abuse the woman when he is intoxicated.
