Chair of the People’s National Congress Reform (PNCR) and the Minister of Public Health, Volda Lawrence has apologised for saying that she will only hire persons who belong to the PNC.

Lawrence issued a public apology on her Facebook Page Monday, five days after her comments were reported by online site Demerara Waves.

“The rhetoric attributed to me over the last few days, is not reflective of who I am as a person or leader.

“I have learned that as a leader I must be cognizant of what I say and do, and must not allow emotions or political fervour to get in the way. So to all those whom I have offended in one way or another, I humbly apologize.”

At the time of her comments, the PNC Chairwoman was addressing party members at a Region Four District Conference at Congress Place.

Following the article, Lawrence came in for strong criticism and was accused of nepotism.

I have learned that as a leader I must be cognizant of what I say and do, and must not allow emotions or political fervour to get in the way. So to all those whom I have offended in one way or another, I humbly apologize. Thank you.
