From December 6-9, Guyana will host the Caribbean Senior Boxing Championships at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall and visiting teams have voiced their eagerness to keep the Guyanese on the mat during the three-day event.

Antigua, Aruba, Barbados, Cayman Islands, Dominica, Grenada, Guadalupe, St. Lucia, Suriname, French Guiana, US Virgin Islands and Trinidad and Tobago are expected to arrive in Guyana this coming week for the fistic battles of gloves and sweat.

Fighters have called out the Guyanese, who are the defending champions. The St. Lucian crew, though small, is most enthusiastic about their chances.

According to President of the Guyana Boxing Association, Steve Ninvalle, the twin-island republic will be sending a 38-member team, inclusive of Olympian Nigel Paul.
