Police intercepted four men who attempted to steal a car twice that was parked at West Road, Sparendaam East Coast Demerara early Wednesday morning.
Police Headquarters revealed that ranks of ‘C’ Division intercepted the suspects at Goedverwagting and came under fire; ranks returned fire and wounded one of the carjackers.
The 24-year-old injured suspect, who resides in Sophia, received medical attention and was discharged.
His home was searched in his presence and three spent ammunition were found; he is also wanted for Simple Larceny of a motorcar in ‘A’ Division.
Investigators are making stringent efforts to apprehend the other suspects.
