A 30-year-old Police Constable was released on $100,000 bail Thursday by City Magistrate, Faith McGusty for the illegal possession of ammunition.
It is alleged that on December 1, 2018, at Brickdam, Georgetown, Romel Cato of West Bank Berbice, had 18 rounds of .223 ammunition and one round of .38 ammunition in his possession when he is not a licensed firearm holder.
Cato did not have legal representation and pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Police Prosecutor, Seon Blackman objected to bail based on the serious nature of the offence and the penalty the charge attracts.
However, the Magistrate released Cato on $100,000 bail and adjourned the matter to December 14, 2018.
