‘Orange The Runway’ Vol.1 is set to kick off at 15:00hrs on Sunday at the Herdmanston Lodge, Georgetown in observance of the International 16 days of activism against gender-based violence under the theme, #HearMeToo.

The event will feature designs from talents such as Andrea Wilson, a Guyanese currentlyresiding in the British Virgin Islands (BVI), local designer, Isaiah Luther andmany more.

The event is made possible by the Heart to Art Foundation, an NGO that focuses on combating mental health through the arts and is captained by the talented Jamicia McCalman with the support of her capable team.

The ‘Heart’ signifies the move to recognize the accomplishments of a few champions who would have made a significant contribution to the fight against gender-based violence regionally or internationally.

The ‘Art’ is represented by the designs that will be on display.

The Foundation also seeks to cease the moment by honouring a champion of advocacy through thedisplay of art; this individual will be presented with the Arts Advocacy award.

Furthermore, those champions whose personal international accomplishments provide a platform to positively inspire others in the pursuit of their goals will be presented with the Award of Excellence for International achievement.

Other awards include: The Male and Female youth activist of the year; Youth Advocate of the year and the Trailblazer award.

A portion of the proceeds generated from this event will go towards the ‘Safe Project’ – an organization whose mandate is to eliminate the rapid increase of Gender-Based Violence in Guyana. (Nigel Collymore)
