Pillion rider killed, Motorcyclist critical in Ogle accident

Police are investigating a fatal accident which occurred at about 23:20hrs on Saturday on the Ogle Public road, East Coast Demerara (E.C.D), claiming the life of an unknown male.

According to information received, the man was the pillion rider on motorcycle #CJ 6360, owned and driven by 20 year old Jason Harris of Cummings Lodge, E.C.D.

Police said motor Jeep #PGG 8844 driven by  a 20 year- old  resident of Campbellville, Georgetown was proceeding east along the northern carriageway of the public road and as he was turning onto the Ogle Access road, the motorcycle which was proceeding west along the said Access road collided with the front of the motor jeep.

As a result of the accident, Harris and the pillion rider fell onto the road.

They were both unconscious and were rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital where the pillion rider was pronounced dead on arrival and the driver admitted a patient in the Intensive Care Unit in a critical condition.
A breathalyzer test was conducted on the driver and no alcohol was found in his system.

He is in custody assisting with the investigation.
