Cop in critical condition following accident

A 42-year-old Police Sergeant is in a critical condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital following an accident Sunday night on the Herstelling Public Road, East Bank Demerara (EBD).

Police reported that Sergeant Joseph Elton Ambrose who is stationed at AlberttownPolice Station and resides at Herstelling, was driving motorcar PMM 9099 north along the western carriageway of the road when he lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the rear of a motor lorry.

The motor lorry GLL 5592 police said, was properly parked.

Ambrose was picked up in an unconscious state by public-spirited citizens and rushed to the Diamond hospital where he was treated and transferred to the GPHC.

Sergeant Ambrose is currently on accumulated annual vacation leave, the police statement noted.
