North Georgetown Primary ousted defending champions South Ruimveldt Primary to seal their spot in the Smalta Girls’ Pee-Wee final against West Ruimveldt Primary come Sunday (December 16, 2018).

The titanic finale clash was a result of highly competitive semi-final action at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue on Saturday.

It brought heartbreak for the defending champions as Nikkia Manning capitalised on a goalkeeping mishap and scored the lone goal of the match. The fortuitous lead was one which the Woolford Avenue team never relinquished even after some dashing solo efforts from 2017 Most Valuable Player Fayon Harry.

The other semi-final was not a foregone conclusion, as at the end of the regulation time, the score was locked at 1-1; even extra time could not decide either side’s faith, but after penalty kicks it was West who were happier, having won 3-2 over St. Pius Primary.

Initial goals came from West’s Seona France in the fifth and the equaliser from Christal Archer in the 21st.

West Ruimveldt Primary (yellow bib) brought out their attacking prowess from the early stages against St. Pius Primary

In other placement matches, Genesis Harmony went down 0-1 to St. Stephen’s Primary with Sherry-Ann Foster netting in the 34th, while Enterprise Primary won 4-3 on penalty kicks over Tucville.

Smith’s Memorial ended their campaign with a 2-0 triumph over St.  Margaret’s Primary, courtesy a Fion Gibbs’ double (16th & 36th).

Sunday’s finale will see Tucville play Genesis for seventh place and Enterprise up against St. Stephen’s for fifth place from 14:00h.

Third place between South and St. Pius commence at 14:50h and the grand final from 15:45h.

The winning team will pocket $200,000, which goes towards a school project of their choice; second place cops $100,000 while third and fourth receive $75,000 and $50,000 respectively.
