Bandits abandon vehicle, escape police in high speed chase

Police on the West Coast of Demerara are on the hunt for several bandits, who abandoned their getaway vehicle on the La Parfaite Harmonie Public Road, West Bank Demerara and escaped Wednesday after robbing a resident of Tushen, East Bank Essequibo.

A police report revealed that the Tushen resident, who is a Contractor, secured his vehicle in front of his home Tuesday night and was alerted at around 4am on Wednesday that thieves broke into the vehicle and stole “an amplifier, a pioneer tape deck and a crossover.”

A resident in the community saw when the thieves escaped in a black Toyota Allion motorcar with registration plates PSS 3701.

The matter was reported and based on the description obtained, the vehicle was spotted by ranks of a police patrol on the La Parfaite Harmonie Public Road, and during a high-speed chase, it got stuck in a drain and the occupants abandoned the vehicle and fled.

The area was searched but the suspects were not seen; however, a search of the Toyota Allion revealed all of the stolen articles.

The vehicle is presently lodged at the Leonora Police Station.
