Cop stabbed, relieved of firearm

Police are investigating the circumstances under which a Policeman was stabbed several times and relieved of his Service Pistol at a club in Second Street, Alberttown about 01:00hrs Saturday.

A brief Police statement noted that the rank sustained injuries to his head, stomach and hands. Police said the cop was stabbed by someone known to him.

He is said to be in a stable condition in a city hospital and efforts are being made to recover the weapon and apprehend the suspects.
