West Ruimveldt girls are the new champions of the Smalta Pee Wee Football tournament after topping North Georgetown 3-1 in the final on Sunday at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue.

The glowing smiles after the final whistle showed the result meant much for a school that could have completed the double this year in Pee Wee football, had the boys not slipped against St. Pius Primary.

Ensuring West took home the $200,000 first place prize was tournament’s Most Valuable Player Seona France with a double (13th and 21st) and Ashanna Rajkumar in the 28th; netting for North was Martha Chance in the 27th.

In the third place playoff, South Ruimveldt’s star player and the tournament’s leading goal scorer, Fayon Harry, netted the lone goal in the 43rd for former champions against St. Pius.

For fifth spot, Stephen’s Primary came ahead of Enterprise with a 1-0 victory after Sherryan Foster netted in the 47th, while for seventh place Genesis Harmony topped Tucville 3-2.
