A Canal, West Bank Demerara teacher was Thursday named Best Graduating Student of the 2018 class of the Cyril Potter College of Education.
A total of 418 teachers from around the country graduated from the teacher’s training college.
Annamarie Isserdeen Samaroo, of Canal No. 2 Polder, was attached to the Vreed-en-Hoop training center for teachers and teaches at the Kawall Primary School.
“I have very supportive parents, pupils and staff,” she told the News Room.
She advises those interested in becoming a teacher to take up the challenge of being a part of the noble profession.
“I think this is a very wonderful job; it is a very noble profession and once your heart is in it there is nothing difficult.
“I would also tell persons that no matter what obstacles you meet in life once you keep going keep working hard you can always get what you dream.”
The mother of one said that without the support of her husband and family, her graduation would not have been possible.
Thirteen students graduated with distinction, 403 with Credit and there were 2 Passes; 82% of the teachers who graduated were female and 19% male.
