T20: Dominant Shakib leads Bangladesh to series-levelling win

Led by a dominant all-round performance from Shakib Al Hasan, Bangladesh won a high-scoring second T20 to level the three-match series with West Indies on Thursday in Dhaka.

Several batsmen chipped in as the hosts posted 211-4, their second highest total in the format. In reply, West Indies were dismissed for 175, losing by 36 runs.

Shakib picked up five wickets

Batting first, Bangladesh were given a rousing start by opener Liton Das, who raced to 60 off 34 balls (6x4s, 4x6s). Shakib chipped in with 42 not out off 26, Mahmadullah Reyad scored an unbeaten 43 off 21 and Soumya Sarkar made 32 off 22.

Sheldon Cottrell picked up 2-38 and Fabian Allen 1-29.

Shakib then took career-best figures of 5-21 to stymie West Indies chase. Rovman Powell made 50 off 34, Shai Hope 36 off 19 and Keemo Paul 29 off 16.

The series-decider is set for Saturday at 07:00h.
