Annai, Shiva Boys in the hunt for KFC Goodwill football title

Annai Secondary School and Shiva Boys Hindu College from Trinidad and Tobago are the only two teams left in contention for championship honours in the KFC Goodwill Football Tournament, which comes to a close on Saturday (December 22).

The tournament started with two other teams, Christianburg Wismar Secondary School and Annandale Secondary, but both are now out of contention due to inconsistent performances.

Christianburg won, but via penalty kicks against Annandale and garnered only two points as against three had they won in regulation time.

For the East Coast Demerara unit, they are still winless and should they lose to Annai by three more goals, the Region Nine unit could cop the title if the other result goes their way. Annai has three points after nailing Christianburg 3-0 and losing 0-2 to the Trinis.

For the visitors from the twin island republic, their job is simple, avoid defeat from the Linden unit and they will head home with the trophy since they are uneaten in both matches and sit comfortably on six points.

The organisers told News Room Sport they expect both matches to be intense, as all the teams would want to end on a winning note.

The first match with Annai and Annandale commences at 17:00h, while the Trinidadians and Linden clash from 19:00h at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue.
