Police are investigating an early morning accident at De Kinderen, West Coast Demerara, which claimed the life of 26-year-old Nkasi Mckend.
According to police reports, McKend was driving motorcar PRR 4153 which was proceeding at a fast rate in the direction of Parika, East Bank Essequibo when she lost control negotiating the turn at De Kinderen at around 5am.
She crashed into a fence on the opposite side of the road and landed in a swampy area. Two other persons in the car were identified as 33-year-old Caleb Morrison and Mario Desa. These two received minor injuries and were discharged from the hospital. Mario is the owner of the vehicle.
Police said Mckend, who was the mother of a 4-year-old son, received injuries to her neck and other parts of the body; she was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.
Mckend was a shop owner and resided at Lot Two Sea Field, Leonora West Coast Demerara with her father and son.
The young mother was pronounced dead at the Leonora Diagnostic Hospital.
