Three guns, ammo seized; six arrested

Police ranks on patrol in ‘A’ and ‘D’ Divisions arrested six men during three stop & search operations between Friday and Saturday morning.

Police said the men were found to be in possession of three handguns and twenty-one live rounds.

The first weapon without ammunition was found in the possession of a 40-year-old labourer of Buzz Bee Dam, Craig East Bank Demerara (EBD) at about 07:30hrs on Friday.

The second weapon with fourteen rounds was found on a 22-year-old resident of Curtis Street, Albouystown in 3rd Street, Agricola about 09:30hrs on Friday.

The third weapon with seven rounds was found just after midnight at the western end of the Demerara Harbour Bridge where three suspects – two from Diamond, EBD and one from  Vreed-en-Hoop, West Coast Demerara were arrested.
