Youth charged with 2014 murder of woman

A 21-year-old man appeared before Chief Magistrate, Ann McLennan on Thursday, charged with the murder of 34-year-old mother of two, Sheniza Khan Bhola, who was found stabbed to death in her shop at Rock Creek, Cuyuni River on February 27, 2014.

Natton Anthony Stoute of Helena No. 2 Mahaica, East Coast Demerara, was not required to plea to the indictable charge, which alleged that between February 26 – 27, 2014, he murdered the woman during the course of a robbery.

The young man did not have legal representation and was remanded to prison until January 17, 2019, where he will make an appearance at the Bartica Magistrate’s Court.

Investigators managed to arrest Stoute on December 31, 2018, at a Berbice location after he had returned to Guyana from Suriname where he fled after allegedly committing the gruesome murder.

According to reports, Bhola, who resided at Parfait Harmonie, West Bank Demerara, was found dead in her shop, which was locked from the outside. She was found with three stab wounds.

The gruesome discovery was made at around 10:00 hrs on February 27, 2014, after a young man visited the shop and found it locked.

Stoute, at that time, was employed by Bhola. Police had issued a wanted bulletin for his arrest.
