‘Sharky’ arrested after robbing, shooting at Wash Bay Operator

Police have arrested one of two suspects, who robbed a Wash Bay Operator of his jewelry and a sum of cash at gunpoint Sunday at Lot 1 Conciliation Drive, Georgetown.

Police Headquarters said that the detained suspect, who resides in Golden Grove, East Bank Demerara, goes by the alias ‘Sharky’, and is also wanted for questioning in connection with several offences including murder.

Police said that ‘Sharky’ and his accomplice pounced on the victim at around 13:20hrs and escaped on a motorcycle, but the victim pursued them in his car.

It is alleged that ‘Sharky’ discharged several rounds at the victim’s car which struck the windshield.

‘Sharky’ was found in possession of an unlicensed pistol with a spent ammunition; the motorcycle has been detained as well.

Efforts are currently being made to find the other suspect who managed to escape.
