Venezuelan, Guyanese arrested with gun, ammo & drugs

An 18-year-old Venezuelan miner along with a 27-year-old Guyanese were on Sunday arrested at Waiamu Landing, Cuyuni River, Region Seven with illegal firearm and ammunition.

According to police information, at about 9:00hrs, ranks on duty in the area noticed two males under a shop acting in a suspicious manner.

The Venezuelan miner was observed handing over a multi-coloured bag to the Guyanese, police said.

The ranks approached the duo where a search of the bag was conducted and they found a .45 calibre Taurus Pistol with five matching rounds of ammunition.

Additionally, a quantity of seeds, leaves, and stems, suspected to be narcotics, was found.

They are in custody assisting with the investigation.
