‘Rasta Man’ allegedly caught with 22 pounds of ganja
Seon Bartholomew called ‘Rasta Man’, 45, appeared before Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court Friday, charged with being in possession of 10,387 grams (22) pounds of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking.
Bartholomew of Lynch Street, Charlestown, pleaded not guilty to the charge, which alleged that he was caught with the illegal substance on January 9, 2019.
His lawyer, Damien Da Silva told the court that Bartholomew has no knowledge of the drugs and that several other persons reside in the yard where it was found.
It is the lawyer’s case that the yard is not fenced and the drugs were hidden under a staircase.
Police Prosecutor Adoni Inniss, however, explained that Bartholomew admitted ownership of the drugs to the police and was arrested.
The Prosecutor objected to bail based on the seriousness of the charge.
Magistrate Isaacs-Marcus remanded Bartholomew to prison until January 22, 2019.
