An interesting final day is in the making at Providence as Windward Islands Volcanoes and Guyana Jaguars are locked in an intense battle in round four of Cricket West Indies Professional Cricket League Regional Four-day championship.
The Volcanoes will enter Sunday’s last day trailing by 76 runs with seven wickets remaining, after being forced to follow-on.
Scores in the match so far: Jaguars 452-9 declared; Volcanoes 209 and 167-3.
Resuming on day three at 99-5, Volcanoes surrendered a 243-run lead with Keemo Paul adding two more wicket from his previous day’s haul to end with 6-57 off 17 overs. Romario Shepherd had 2-47 and Veerasammy Permaul 2-38.
Alick Athanaze topscored with 67 and Dennis Smith 37.
Batting a second time, Volcanoes were more steady with Devon Smith hitting 65 and Ronald Cato 36. Kirk Edwards is not out on 40 and Kaveem Hodge three.
Paul, Shepherd and Sherfane Rutherford are the wicket-takers thus far.
