A 42-year-old food vendor was on Monday charged before Principal Magistrate, Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus for trafficking cannabis.

Christopher Cummings of Tucville Housing Scheme, Georgetown pleaded not guilty to the charge.

It is alleged that on January 11, 2019, at Merriman’s Mall, he had 109 grams of cannabis in his possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Police Prosecutor, Quinn Harris told the court that on the day in question ranks, acting on information, went to Cummings’ business place at Merriman’s Mall and found him with a quantity of cannabis in his hand.

Cummings’ Attorney, Bernard DaSliva, made an application for bail on the grounds that his client was not found with the suspected drugs.

Magistrate Isaacs-Marcus, however, released Cummings on $100,000 bail on the condition that he reports to the Criminal Investigations Department on Mondays.

The matter was adjourned until January 28.
