The National Sports Policy is being implemented. That’s according to information emanating from the Ministry of the Presidency, Department of Social Cohesion, Culture, Youth and Sport (MOTP-DSCCYS).

The Ministry’s statement came in direct response to a call from President of the Guyana Boxing Association, Steve Ninvalle, for the Policy to be implemented. He made the call during an exclusive interview with News Room earlier this month.

“The National Sports Policy is being implemented,” the Ministry said in a statement.

“Even though the final document has not been formally adopted by the Parliament of Guyana, it has been released, post research and consultation, for public consumption and implementation.”

The Ministry added: “As it is, multiple sectors, agencies, stakeholder organisations and sports associations and federations have started doing their part in effecting the necessary changes within their respective fraternities.”

The Ministry further stated: “As a former senior staff of the MOTP-DSCCYS, Mr. Ninvalle was not only aware, but was also part of the process that led to the materialisation of the National Sports Policy (Draft).”
