Chris Pollard, 19, of Durban Street, Lodge, appeared before Senior Magistrate, Leron Daly Tuesday, accused of robbery with violence

The young man denied the charge which alleged that on January 11, 2019, at Croal Street, Georgetown he robbed Ramiz Mohammed of a cellphone valued $16,000 and $500 cash with the use of personal violence.

Police Prosecutor Sanj Singh opposed to the teen being released on bail on the grounds that he was positively identified by the victim during an identification parade.

The Magistrate released Pollard on $40,000 bail and adjourned the matter to February 6, 2019.

According to reports, Mohammed was walking along Coral Street when he was confronted by Pollard, who allegedly cuffed him to the face and ordered he hand over his money and cellphone.

It is further alleged that Pollard escaped but he was caught by public-spirited persons who handed him over to the police.
