The Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) has claimed there was no evidence of food poisoning to any player during the Guyana Jaguars and Leeward Islands Hurricanes fifth round Professional Cricket League Regional Four-day game at Providence on Saturday.

What was suspected to be food poisoning to several Hurricanes players caused a delay in the start of the second session of play on day three.

The GCB, in a Facebook post, outlined: “The GCB is pleased to advise that the game has now restarted. There was absolutely no evidence of food poisoning to any player. A few players were treated and about two of them claimed that they were not well enough to take the field. The GCB has pulled out all stops to ensure the health and wellbeing of all the players were well taken care of.”
