Drama on East Bank as taxi driver shot by men on bike


An Indian Chief Taxi driver was rushed to the hospital Tuesday evening after one of two men on a motorcycle fired at him at McDoom, East Bank Demerara.

His condition is unknown at this time.

A Police Officer on the scene told the News Room that the men on motorcycle CJ 2686 tried to get the taxi to pull in the corner, however, the driver refused and was fired at.

News Room understands that the driver then managed to slam into the men on the motorbike. The men sped away on foot from the scene, leaving behind the motorbike and the weapon.

The driver of the motor car was rushed to the hospital. Eyewitnesses claimed that one of the gunmen suffered a broken leg.

The taxi driver was at the time said to be transporting a mother and her child; they also reportedly received injuries.
