Assistant Superintendent of Police, Seecharran Singh was remanded to prison Thursday on a charge of raping a 13-year-old girl.
Singh, 31 of Providence, East Bank Demerara appeared before Principal Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus and was not required to plea to the indictable charge which was read in camera.
It is alleged that between June 17 and June 18, 2018, at a location on the East Bank of Demerara, he engaged in sexual activity with a child under the age of the 16.
Singh was represented by Attorney-at-law, Bernard DaSliva and was remanded to prison until February 5, 2019.
