Nineteen-year-old Kevin Thomas, a Mason of South Sophia and Joseph Macey, 18, a water vendor of Agricola, East Bank Demerara, were remanded to prison Wednesday for allegedly robbing a man at knifepoint.

The teenagers appeared before Magistrate Faith McGusty and pleaded not guilty to the armed robbery charge, which alleged that on January 20, 2019, at Regent Street, Georgetown, they robbed Rishi Matura of a cellphone and other items amounting to $14,000, while armed with a knife.

Police Prosecutor Annalisa Brummel told the court that both teens are known to the victim and the incident occurred in broad daylight.

In court, the victim explained that he knows both accused by seeing them regularly at the Plaisance Guinness bar.

They were remanded to prison until February 13, 2019.
