Three-time defending champions of the West Demerara/East Bank Zone Guinness Greatest of the Streets championships, Showstoppers, won their second match of the 2019 season on Friday evening at the Pouderoyen Tarmac.

Dexroy Adams netted the lone goal for the defending champions in the 15th minute against Up Top Bosses which sealed their berth in the Round-of-16.

Jetty won 1-0 on penalty over West Side Ballers after Fenton Ramlakhan pulled it back with a Guinness goal in the 19th. A Guinness goal counts as two when scored in the final three minutes of the match. On the score sheet for West Side were Devon Baptiste (third minute) and Kevin Frank (13th).

Trevon Lythcott made the difference for the 2018 runners-up ESPN with a strike in the fifth minute against Brothers United. Jude Lewis’ conversion in the 18th for Genna against Dream Team brought about a similar result.

Agricola Ballers were leading Young Ballers, compliments of Desmond Cottam in the fourth minute, but Shawn Downer found the winning Guinness goal in the 18th minute, while Rising Stars routed Phenonix Ballers 3-0 with play maker Keanu Lawrence netting in the 15th and 18th.

Both Boom Bang and Bagotstown Warriors won 2-1 on penalty kicks after their matches produced goalless stalemates. They defeated Up-Like-7 and Ballers Empire respectively.

Action continues at the aforementioned venue on Friday (February 1) with the final round of group matches. The championship winners will pocket $500,000, while second takes home half that amount. Third and fourth will collect $200,000 and $100,000 respectively.
