A mother of three is battling for her life at the Georgetown Public Hospital after she was stabbed some seven times by the father of her children early Tuesday morning at Cow Pen Street, Eccles on the East Bank of Demerara.

She was identified as 24-year-old Unika Stewart of Bagotstown, East Bank Demerara.

Residents identified the suspect only as ‘Trini.’

When News Room arrived at the location, the suspected weapon, a pair of scissors, was found at the crime scene.

Residents told News Room that after the woman collapsed on the roadway, the suspect beat her with a piece of wood.

She was rushed to the Diamond Hospital but was subsequently transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital for further treatment.

News Room understands that the couple has been separated some seven months.

On Tuesday morning, the suspect left his Eccles home and visited Stewart’s Bagotstown home where he asked to speak with her, but she refused.

It is alleged that Stewart then went to the suspect’s home to complain to his family about his constant harassment when he attacked her.

The suspect is on the run.
