Akelo Nurse, 18, of Independence Boulevard, La Penitence, appeared before Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus Tuesday, charged with the illegal possession of a .45 pistol, which he allegedly had on January 25, 2019 at Charlestown, Georgetown.

Nurse, who is a Block Maker, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

His lawyer, Clyde Forde, told the court that his client and three friends were riding their bicycles along Charlestown road when they saw a police patrol and decided to turn around and ride away.

The lawyer claimed that Nurse fell off his bicycle and was picked up by the Police and taken to the police station, where a Police rank appeared with a gun and claimed that the teenager had it in his possession.

Police Prosecutor, Adduni Inniss made no objection to bail but requested that conditions are attached.

As such, the teenager was granted $100,000 bail with the condition that he reports to the Brickdam Police Station every Friday. The matter is adjourned to February 18, 2019.
